Sister Leonella Consolata Medical College one
Sister Leonella Consolata Medical College is a Faith-Based institution under the Catholic Archdiocese of Nyeri. The College, which is the training section of Consolata Hospital Mathari (level-5) is located in Nyeri County along Nyeri-Nyahururu road about 7 kilometers from Nyeri town.
The college, initially named as Consolata Nursing School, was founded in 1945 by the Consolata Missionaries to offer Certificate in Nursing. It would later grow and attain its current stature as a full-fledged medical college. It was renamed in the year 2019 as Sister Leonella Consolata Medical College in memory of Sister Leonella Sgorbati, a Consolata missionary for her distinguished service as a nurse at the Consolata Hospital Mathari between the year 1970 and 1983 before she was brutality murdered in Mogadishu, Somalia on 17th September 2006 during her Missionary work.
The college is duly accredited by the Nursing Council of Kenya to offer Higher Diploma in Nephrology Nursing, Diploma in Kenya Registered Community Health Nursing (KRCHN) as well as Kenya Registered Nursing & Midwifery (KRNM). Besides, the college is approved by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVET) under the TVET Act (2013) to offer Competency Based Diploma and Certificate Courses that are regulated by the TVET/CDACC.
