Disaster Management Certificate at Al - Irfan International College

The Disaster Management program engages students in critical thinking skills that enable them to reduce the health complexities of disasters.
The Certificate is also intended to increase the managerial and leadership skills of public health professionals working with international refugees and displaced populations after a disaster.

For developing societies, disaster risk reduction is increasingly understood as an integral part of development, especially in the era of climate change, and the vulnerabilities of the poor and marginalized have come to be recognized as the key to understanding the disproportionate impact of disasters in the developing world. Especially in the developing world, disaster risk reduction, disaster response and post-disaster recovery need to be examined and evaluated from the perspectives of justice, equity and social inclusion.

In Kenya, disaster management as a field of systematic study and practice is still in its initial stages, providing tremendous scope for exploration, research and the evolution of appropriate techniques and best practices.
