Plumbers install and repair the water, waste disposal, drainage, and gas systems in homes and commercial and industrial buildings. Pipefitters, on the other hand, install and repair both high- and low-pressure pipe systems used in manufacturing, the generation of electricity, and in the heating and cooling of buildings.

This plumbing and pipefitter artisan certificate program teaches pipe system design, safety, and tool use. The course also consists of pre-practical training, as well as safety, trade math, and science.

Many plumbers and pipe fitters work for contractors on the construction of new buildings, while others are steadily employed by plants and factories to do maintenance work. Plumbers may also connect the water, gas, and waste disposal pipes to the city or town supply.

Pipefitters work with very large pipes, some of which can withstand high pressures. Pipefitters work in industries such as oil refineries, chemical plants, and food processing plants. They install, maintain, and repair the pipes through which these products pass. Pipefitters also install boilers, oil burners, furnaces, and air-conditioning and sprinkler systems.

After completing this Plumbing and Pipefitter Artisan Certificate program you will be able to:

  • Assemble, install, repair, and maintain water supply systems, drain systems, and gas systems.
