Animal Health and Production
Animal Health and Production
This Animal Health and Production course is a Diploma program accredited by CDACC.
Diploma holders in Animal Health and Production are important in the animal resource industry as they form a link between the front line personnel and managers in the provision of animal health and production services. This diploma course is therefore designed to provide human resources in animal health and production in order to develop the animal resource industry in Kenya.
In Kenya, livestock production accounts for 50% of the total agricultural Gross Domestic Product (GDP) with approximately 4 million people depending on animal production. The main constraints to animal production are inadequate feeds and poor marketing infrastructure, lack of credit and diseases. The need to build capacities for animal production, management and disease control through training is necessary since well-understood procedures executed by competent and adequately equipped staff are the best responses to the production constraints.
The Diploma in Animal Health and Production programme is designed to equip candidates with the necessary skills that will allow them to address animal health and production problems from a multi-disciplinary point of view. The Programme will draw candidates from practicing animal health technicians and form four graduates.
