Counseling Psychology
This Counseling Psychology course is a Diploma program accredited by KNEC.
Counseling Psychology is a generalist health service specialty in professional psychology that uses a broad range of culturally-informed and culturally-sensitive practices to help people improve their well-being, prevent and alleviate distress and maladjustment, resolve crises, and increase their ability to function better in their lives.
Counseling psychologists treat a wide range of mental health problems such as depression and anxiety, eating disorders, psychosis, personality disorder, negative life events, bereavement, domestic violence, sexual, emotional and physical abuse, trauma and relationship issues.
This Counseling Psychology Diploma program is a three year course, whose objective is to equip students with knowledge, skills and experience in the basic principles of counseling and integrate these principles with other counseling knowledge in practice.
Diploma in Counseling has various options which an individual can choose to special in.
Learning Outcomes
- Demonstrate knowledge and application of ethical concepts, and awareness of legal issues regarding professional activities with individuals, groups, and organizations.
- Exhibit behavior and comportment that reflect the values and attitudes of counseling and psychology
- Demonstrate knowledge of individual and group theories of counseling and psychotherapy consistent with program orientation and goals
- Relate effectively with individuals, groups, and communities
